Seriously Serious - An illustrated book based on a short story.
Mixed-media illustrated picture book for children 21.0 x 29.7 cm
‘After quitting his clowning job at the local circus, Thiercelin dedicated his life to being taken more seriously. The only problem is that his seriousness is so extremely seriously serious that still… no one can take him seriously’
Choosing from a select number of short stories, this project evolved from the quote ‘With his ferret and his dog, investor Thiercelin, of Milly, went off hunting yesterday. He has not returned. The woods are being searching.’
The project strated with an extensive phase of idea generation, my storyline developed from the concept of investor Thiercelin running away to the woods to join the circus, mentally crippled from the monotonous corporte world. The story then took a 180 with Thiercelin running away from his former circus clown life to become someone who is taken more seriously (aka become a seriously boring corporate investor).
Unfortunatley for Thiercelin, his clownish ways are so ingrained within him that he doesn’t realise that his seriously serious commitment to be taken more seriously... still makes him look like a clown.
The book contains few words and full-page illustrations to encourage discussion between parent/reader and child.
