Little People Having a Little Party - Manchester Poetry Library Project /  Large-installation  comission

Curated for an exhibition in the Manchester Poetry Library, this project was based on the short poem ‘Little People’ by Chrissie Grittins, about a group of giggling Little People that lived in a child’s bedroom.

The concept and artistic decisions behind the designs were influenced by the folklore of ‘Little People’, swing jazz, the nostalgia of children’s birthday parties, and random mundane objects in my house that made musical noise.

After creating characters designed to be small, the large-scale work is both an exploratory contradiction of scale and an investigation into the juxtaposition a large-scale illustration has on a space.
